Second World War .In October, 2006, the Enoch Cree opened the River Cree Casino and Resort, a $150-million (CAN$) casino, hotel and sports complex on reserve land that borders Edmonton on the west, near the giant
West Edmonton Mall . There has been little negative press about the development, with only complaints coming from the mall and other nearby city casinos. Editorial writers in the Edmonton papers have speculated that the first nation's casino, which will allow smoking, will draw patrons from those casinos and other entertainment venues, as the City of Edmonton is smoke-free.Fact|date=February 2008References
