creators="Jughead's Double Digest" began as a companion publication to the "Jughead" 32-page comic book and the "Jughead With Archie Digest magazine", and is a publication of "
Archie Comics ". The Double Digest series are larger versions of the Archie Digest publication line. The regular digests were 128 pages (now 96 pages) while the Double Digests were 256 pages (now 192 pages), hence the name "Double Digest." "Jughead's Double Digest Magazine" began publication in Oct 1989 on a quarterly basis, but is now published nine times a year and features Jughead in new stories. Jughead's Double Digest magazine reprints of older ones also. Currently, "Jughead's Double Digest Magazine" is past issue #100. It is currently one of the three Jughead comic books being published today along with "Archie's Pal Jughead Comics" the 32-page regular sized comic book and "Jughead and Friends Digest Magazine".Following the success of "
Betty and Veronica Double Digest "'s attempt at a new look in 2007 with "Bad Boy Trouble ", "Jughead's Double Digest" #139 (2008) begins a 4-part series entitled "The Matchmakers" using the same new character designs, in which Jughead is 'set up' with a girl. The original story can be found in a novelette that came out in 1991 byMichael Pellowski andJohn L. Goldwater entitled "It's First Love, Jughead Jones"; however,Melanie J. Morgan is accredited by Archie Comics for the comic's script. The art is byJoe Staton andAl Milgrom , working fromSteven Butler 's character designs.
