Peter Ayodele Fayose (born
13 November 1960 ) was governor ofEkiti State inNigeria from29 May 2003 to16 October 2006 , when he was impeached. His administration was embroiled in a corruption scandal involving an agricultural development firm owned by his childhood friend, Gbenga James. He currently stands accused of mismanaging more than $11.5 million in his state. He was a member of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) until his impeachment.Early life

Criminal charges
Following his impeachment, Fayose went into hiding and eventually surrendered to the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission onDecember 14 2007 .
