Suffolk Park, New South Wales

Suffolk Park, New South Wales

Suffolk Park is a small town in northern New South Wales, Australia in the Byron Shire. It is 5 km south of Byron Bay. Its population according to the 2001 Census was 3,318.

Once known as Byron Bay's poor relation, Suffolk Park has grown to a point of having its own identity and micro-culture. Situated just south of Cape Byron, Suffolk Park is a ten-minute drive from Byron Bay and has dominion over Tallow Beach, which stretches 15km from Cosy Corner at the Cape south to Broken Head. Notable landmarks in the area are "Cocked-Hat Rocks", (a large rocky outcrop at the Broken Head beach) which are also known by local Bundjalung people as "Sister's Rocks", the Suffolk Park Caravan Park, and King's Beach.

There is a small shopping centre at the corner of Clifford Street and Broken Head Road that services Suffolk Park with a post office, liquor store, pub, newsagent, bakery, pharmacy, movie rental, and a few restaurants and take-aways.

A neighbouring town, Baywood Chase, despite being separated by the main road, Tallow Creek, and a small amount of bush land, is often considered as part of Suffolk Park (Hillside Suffolk/Byron Hills).
