Klaas Bruinsma (1931) is a
West Frisian language translator of historical works from Dutch, Spanish and Greek, among others.He has translated the works
Karel ende Elegast andBeatrijs . In1993 he was awarded theObe Postma prize for his translation from Greek of the tragedies ofSophocles . In2005 he obtained this prize for the second time for his translation ofVirgil 'sGeorgics and especially for his translations of theIliad and theOdyssey ofHomer .Until his retirement, Bruinsma was a lecturer of English and
history at theIchthus College inDrachten , amongst others.External links
