Mani Shankar (hindi:मणि शंकर) is a Bollywood director, best known for his direction of Hindi films such as 16 December, Rudraksh, and, Tango Charlie Mukhbir and Knockout. Mani has also made over 1000 ad films and short films. His noteworthy short films include special films made for the Government of Andhra Pradesh to commemorate the Indian visits of two U.S. Presidents, Bill Clinton and George Bush. Mani is an Engineer from BITS Pilani and has done pioneering work in film special effects for his first two films which got him several nominations as best visual effect supervisor. His films carry a unique signature style and pace.

16 december was a huge hit and was among the top ten grossers of 2002. He has won several awards and nominations including the Golden Nandi award as well as Star Screen nominations for Best Director, Best Screenplay Writer and Best Visual Effects Supervisor. Mukhbir was a critically acclaimed film and was screened at the Black International Film festival at Berlin. Tango Charlie was also critically acclaimed and was part of Amnesty International's collection of anti war films. Knockout, his recent film has been widely appreciated as a hard hitting thriller with a nationalistic theme of repatriating stolen assets from swiss banks.
