A mysterious Robin Hood like figure called "Flying Eagle" appears sometimes and saves the day. 12th Sister wants to unmask this mysterious person for the honor of her late dad who was also a constable. Another official wants Chan's character to marry his daughter. Powerful officials are also trying to locate "Flying Eagle".There was also a sequel:The Gentle Crackdown II .This TVBI series is out on DVD (as of November, 2005), but in the US, it was available for rent only from Asian video stores until August 2006, when the series premiered on TVB-USA.
Meaning of title in Chinese
The meaning of the show's title in Chinese is "When A Scholar Meets A Soldier". The title mainly describes the relations between the policewoman and the public official. The title is derived from the famous proverb "秀才遇着兵, 有理說不清", which translates to "When a scholar meets a soldier, reasons cannot be described clearly".
