"The Wood" is a 1999 comedy/romance film, written by Rick Famuyiwa and Todd Boyd. Famuyiwa also directed the film, which stars Omar Epps, Richard T. Jones, and Taye Diggs.

Plot Premise

The story takes place in Inglewood, California, a suburb of Los Angeles commonly referred to by its inhabitants as "The Wood." It begins as a marriage is about to go underway, but the groom, Roland (Diggs), has disappeared and it's up to his two best friends, Mike (Epps) and Slim (Jones), to find him. Interspersed with scenes of their search are a series of flashbacks featuring the three friends during their junior high and high school years (played in their younger years by Duane Finley, Sean Nelson, and Trent Cameron).

Trivia

*Christina Milian, Dawnn Lewis, and Jascha Washington all play small roles in this film. Co-writer Todd Boyd cameos as well, playing the reverend for the wedding ceremony.
*Director Rick Famuyiwa revealed in an interview at USC, his alma mater, that Paramount executives wanted the character Mike to pinch his girlfriend Alicia's butt in the end scene for added laughs, a request Famuyiwa refused to follow through with. Coincidentally, in the 2003 film "Love Don't Co$t a Thing", the character Alvin pinches his girlfriend Paris' (portrayed by Christina Milian, who played a small role in "The Wood") butt at the end of the movie. It's only coincidence however, as the two films were distributed by different companies.
