Lake Afton Park occupies a convert|720|acre|km2|1|sing=on site convert|25|mi|km|0 southwest of
Wichita, Kansas . The Park includes a convert|258|acre|km2|1|sing=on lake on land once inhabited by theKiowa ,Comanche ,Wichita (tribe) , Osage and Southern Cheyenne Indian tribes. Construction of Lake Afton was started in 1939 and completed in 1942, by theWorks Progress Administration work force.Points of Interest
