Robby Roadsteamer (born Louis Robert Potylo, September 3, 1976) is a Boston-based musician/comedian/performance artist. Roadsteamer has straddled the line between comedy and music for the past seven years. Performing either as himself, or as an amped up Hulk Hogan meets Andrew Dice Clay type character complete with a wig and fake mustashe, or a bandana and hat backwards ala Axl Rose, but always under the stage name Robby Roadsteamer for either version. He's performed at comedy clubs and in rock clubs with his band or as a solo performer. He's seen the worst of both worlds - good bands and good comedians struggling to be heard over the din of wannabes. Originally the lead singer of the band the Sweatpant Boners which was a metal/punk band formed with Ken Susi of Unearth and Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage. They released one album in 2001 titled "Cruising With The Masters". Roadsteamer formed his own band in 2005 called Robby Roadsteamer and has toured the United States behind his album "Postcards From the Den Of Failure", including the Warped Tour. The band received praise when it came in second in the WBCN Rock & Roll Rumble, including press in the "Boston Globe" and "Boston Herald". Roadsteamer received nationwide radio airplay and was featured on VH1's "Best Week Ever" for his single "I Put a Baby In You." Roadsteamer was a disc jockey on WBCN on the nightshift with Hardy until his firing in early May of 2008 with the station's desire to play more national music and have less local personality at night.Roadsteamer's band has been nominated for "Live Band of the Year" at the Boston Music Awards three times. During the 2006 ceremony, while presenting "local song of the year" (for which he was nominated), he stated that the Boston Music Awards was a "plastic piece of shit," and that "everyone knows the winners ahead of time." Roadsteamer asked to present the trophy to the winners, The Snowleopards, when he instead declared himself the winner and fled the venue with the trophy.

In December 2007, Robby Roadsteamer released "LRP," an acoustic album that marked a departure from the mock 'n' roll of his band, Roadsteamer, and the arrival of a hilariously brutal singer-songwriter. The soul-crushing aspects of the Boston music scene are a major theme of "LRP" and something Roadsteamer knows too well. Three months later he released "The Most Pretentious Album Since Axl's", a reference to the lead singer of Guns N' Roses, Axl Rose, and in a move reminiscent of Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead he released his third solo album "This Album Syncs Up To ToeJam And Earl" free on his website roadsteamer.com on May 12th 2008, then in June he released "The Cryin, The Niche, And The Stronghold" online. His fourth album in several months. On September 16th he released a fifth solo album called "New England Weathered Friends" online and in print. The thirty tracks on "New England Weathered Friends" (which included the album "The Crying The Niche And The Stronghold" that was recorded and released briefly online to fans at the beginning of the summer but never printed up) combined the satirical recipe of the past with more brutal honesty about his experiences in real life on tracks "Goin' Down to Ipswich Mass." and "Once a Year Visit to the Farm," and "The Good Guys Have Lost the War" which is seen as a pretty effective broadside against the music industry.

TV Appearances

In September 2007 Robby was featured for an episode of a reality dating show called "Sox Appeal" which was broadcasted on New England Sports Network (NESN).

He also was featured on the ice at the Boston Garden for the final Boston Bruins game of the 2007-08 season as the referee for the USA Rock Paper Scissors League Championship.

He appeared on the Fox Morning show and drew a tattoo dinosaur on Gene Lavanchy
