Afghan politician, who served as Prime Minister. He was amujahideen commander during the "Jihad " against the Soviet occupation forces. By June,year the government troops had driven the rebel forces fromKabul , and in November he was named Prime Minister. In March 1995, government troops repelled the forces of the southern-basedTaliban . He served as Deputy Prime Minister during the Presidency ofBurhanuddin Rabbani . He served later as Deputy Education Minister in theTaliban regime. On February 16,year he was one of the four former Taliban leaders that accepted the reconciliation offer from the Afghan government. He was also named deputy leader ofKhuddamul Furqan for political affairs.
