Saint Johns is an Auckland suburb.

It gets its name from St Johns Anglican Theological College This was established here from as early as 1844 by Bishop Selwyn.

Up until the second quarter of the 20th century St Johns was the location of an area of boggy ground that would develop into a lake during most winters. After 1900 suburban development of the area meant the presence of Lake St John was problematic, as it wasn't constantly present it couldn't be used as selling feature like Lake Pupuke on the North Shore, but it was a source of mosquitos and smells. This depression was eventually drained through the construction of a drain tunnelled through to Hobson Bay in 1929. The local Golf Club occupies the valley where it was located and provides a nice piece of landscaped scenery for the surrounding houses.

Much of the suburb was developed in the 1960's and 70's when at that time it was seen as a popular place for families to live. Today it stands as a middle class neighborhood, with its prestige dwarfed by surrounding suburbs such as Kohimarama, Mission Bay, and Remuera. Conveniently located State secondary schools include Selwyn College, Baradene College of the Sacred Heart and St Peter's College.
