Alison Littell McHose

Alison Littell McHose (born May 24, 1965) is an American Republican Party politician, who has served in the New Jersey General Assembly since 2003, where she represents the 24th legislative district.

McHose has served in the Assembly as Assistant Minority Leader since 2006 and was the Assistant Republican Whip from 2004-2006. [http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/members/BIO.asp?Leg=221 Assemblywoman McHose's legislative web page] , New Jersey Legislature. Accessed April 16, 2008.]

Assemblywoman McHose was selected on January 25, 2003, by the Republican county committee members from Sussex, Morris and Hunterdon Counties to fill the remainder of Congressman Scott Garrett’s term in the New Jersey Assembly, and was sworn in to office on February 4, 2003. McHose is the first woman to serve the 24th District and was the youngest woman in the legislature. She is also part of the first father-daughter team to serve simultaneously in the New Jersey Legislature, together with her father, State Senator Robert Littell. Her mother, Virginia Littell, has served as chairman of the New Jersey Republican State Committee. [Jackson, Herb. Accessed July 6, 2007. "McHose should fit right in, having spent the past seven years working as an aide to the senator from the 24th District, Robert E. Littell, who is her father. Her mother, Virginia Newman Littell, is a former state Republican chairwoman, and her grandfather, Alfred B. Littell, was a senator in the Forties and Fifties. As far as anyone can tell, it's the first simultaneous father-daughter combination in the State House, but having relatives in the Legislature is not as unusual as you might expect."]

McHose serves in the Assembly on the Budget Committee, the Tourism and Gaming Committee and the Legislative Services Commission.

Assemblywoman McHose has served on the Franklin Borough Economic Development Committee since 1995. She was a member of the Sussex County 250th Anniversary Committee from 2002-2003. McHose was a legislative aide in Senator Robert Littell’s district office in Franklin for over seven years, where her duties included budget issues, constituent casework and press releases. During the George H. W. Bush administration, from 1988-1992, McHose served the National Endowment for the Humanities as Special Assistant to the Chair (working directly for Chairman Lynne Cheney), and at the United States Department of the Treasury as Special Assistant to the General Counsel and Special Assistant to the Treasurer of the United States.

McHose attended Simmons College and graduated with a B.S. from the University of Maryland, College Park in Government and Politics.
