Saddleworth parish of theMetropolitan Borough of Oldham , inGreater Manchester ,England . Managed byNorthern Rail , it lies on theHuddersfield Line 20 km (13 miles) northeast ofManchester Victoria and is the final station within Greater Manchester before crossing theWest Yorkshire boundary. First opened by the "Huddersfield & Manchester Railway" in 1848, it became the junction for branch lines to Oldham and Delph the following year. Passenger services on both branches were withdrawn in April 1955, with complete closure following in 1963/4. The defunct bay once used by Oldham trains can still be seen at the Stalybridge end of the station.ervices
From Monday to Saturday, Greenfield is served by an hourly
Northern Rail service fromManchester Victoria station to Huddersfield station, with some additional service in the peaks. There is a Sunday service every two hours in each direction.The more frequent
