- Bengalee (ship)
The Bengalee was a three masted
barque weighing 304 (or 354) tons, owned by Hamlin and Company, Greenock. It was principally used as a supply ship, although it did carry human cargo also. It was manufactured in 1837 atDumbarton .Captain Thomas Hamlin did not allow the consumption of alcohol on his ship, thus it was known as a temperance ship.
