February 26 ,1894 –October 29 ,1961 ) was a very tall and burly actor who starred in Laurel and Hardy andCharlie Chaplin films. His most famous films with Laurel and Hardy were "Our Relations " and "The Chimp ". Sandford also acted in "Way Out West ", Laurel and Hardy's most famous film, but his sequence was cut from the final take, other films included "Double Whoopee " (1929).Of his Charlie Chaplin movies, his most famous include "The Circus" (1928), "
City Lights " (1931) and "Modern Times" (1936). He was most famous for playing rough and tough men, such as in "City Lights" and "Modern Times" as 'a hard man' and 'Big Bill' respectively. He retired from acting in 1940, the year he had a very small role Charlie Chaplin's "The Great Dictator ".External links
