- Platon Poretsky
Platon Sergeevich Poretsky (
October 3 ,1846 -August 9 ,1907 ) was a noted Russian, Ukrainian bornastronomer ,mathematician , andlogician . Graduated from Kharkov University he worked inAstrakhan andPulkovo . Later being an astronomer atKazan University after an advice of his older colleague Professor of Mathematics A.V. Vasiliev at Kazan University (father ofNikolai A. Vasiliev ) to learn works ofBoole Poretsky developed "logical calculus" and through specific "logical equations" applied it to thetheory of probability . Thus, he extended and augmented the works of logicians and mathematiciansBoole ,Jevons andSchröder .References
