railway station serving the village ofPantyffynnon , inCarmarthenshire ,West Wales . It is situated on theHeart of Wales Line . The station was originally fairly large and built adjacent to the Dynevortinplate works and included station buildings, signal box, freight yard and from1931 a small railway locomotive shed.Little remains to show the former glories of Pantyffynnon. The original station platforms and footbridge have been razed to the ground. A single platform remains in use with a single remaining building. The other platform remains bare but for weeds with the track lifted. The old Amman Valley branch line through Ammanford and
Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen which joined here to the other side of the current platform was closed in its entirety along with the yard after the closure ofAbernant Colliery . The railway shed (closed1964 ) and turntable are also gone, with nothing to reveal their former existence. The junction was re-instated for freight services only in2006 asEWS requested that part of the line be re-instated to serveTairgwaith Colliery .The Amman Valley Railway Society has also been attempting to reinstate the Amman valley line as a
heritage railway , although the EWS plans may prevent this in the short term. All trains serving the station are operated by
Arriva Trains Wales . There are four trains a day in each direction from Monday to Saturday, and two services on Sundays.External links
