Fiame Mata'afa Faumuina Mulinu’u II, C.B.E. (August 5, 1921 – May 20, 1975) was the first Prime Minister of Samoa following Independence (1959-70 and 1973-75). He held the Tama Aiga tile Mata'afa, one of the four Kingly titles and was also descendant from the Malietoa family. His other titles were Fiame and Faumuina. He was elected to Parliament under his title Fiame from the electoral constituency of Lotofaga. On his death his wife Laulu Fetauimalemau Mata'afa ran for his vacant seat and entered parliament under the title Laulu. His daughter Fiame Naomi Mata'afa now holds the Fiame title and his parliamentary seat in the Electoral Constituency of Lotofaga. He was one of the framers of the Constitution of Samoa.
He was honoured with a Commander of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, bestowed with Mata'afa title 1948. He was Prime Minister from October 1, 1959 until February 1970 and again from March 1973 until his death.
