Gowerton is served approximately every two hours byArriva Trains Wales services heading westbound towardsLlanelli , (where they continue to eitherWest Wales or toShrewsbury via theHeart of Wales Line ; and eastbound towardsSwansea . On those services that do stop, it is arequest stop .The station only has one platform, being sited on a single track section between
Cockett and Duffryn.Network Rail has proposals to re-double the section of railway in the vicinity of this station in around 2010, and re-instate the other disused platform. This will allow more trains to stop at this station as well as allow more traffic to pass this section of railway.
