WUFX ("My 35") is the MyNetworkTV affiliate for Jackson, Mississippi. The station is licensed to Vicksburg and began broadcasting on September 29, 2003, as a Fox affiliate. During that time, it was known as "Fox 35" and had the slogan "Fox for You." In early 2006, it was announced that WUFX would become affiliated with My Network TV, which is owned by the Fox network. In advance of the switch to My Network TV, WUFX and sister station WDBD swapped affiliations. On July 3, 2006, WUFX picked up the WB affiliation from WDBD, but began identifying itself as "My 35". Meanwhile, WDBD rejoined the Fox network as "Fox 40." On September 4, 2006, WUFX switched its primary affiliation to MyNetworkTV. However, it continued to carry WB programming until the WB shut down on September 17, 2006.

Digital television

Because it was granted an original construction permit after the FCC finalized the DTV allotment plan on April 21, 1997 [http://www.transmitter.com/FCC97115/chanplan.html] , the station did not receive a companion channel for a digital television station. Instead, on or before February 17, 2009, which is the end of the digital TV conversion period for full-service stations, WUFX will be required to turn off its analog signal and turn on its digital signal (called a "flash-cut").

Trivia

WUFX would have begun broadcasting at 11 am on September 7, 2003, in time for the start of the 2003 NFL season. However, two members of the tower construction crew had shots fired at them at the stations' Edwards transmitter site (on August 31, 2003). As a result, all work at the transmitter site was halted for 22 days. During that time, the Hinds County Sheriff's Department conducted an investigation. Deputies eventually decided it was safe for the construction crew to resume work on WUFX's transmitter, and even provided on-site security.
