- Wax paper
Wax paper (also called waxed paper) is a kind of
paper that is mademoisture proof through the application ofwax .The practice of oiling parchment or paper in order to make it semi-translucent or moisture-proof goes back at least to medieval times.
Thomas Edison claimed to have invented wax paper in1872 Fact|date=November 2007 , but what he really invented was a cheap and efficient means to manufacture such paper. "Microwave": Wax paper can function as a
splatter cover inmicrowave cooking . Because the paper is mostly unaffected bymicrowaves , it will not heat to the point ofcombustion under normal usage. This makes wax paper more functional thanplastic wrap which will melt at lower temperatures, oraluminium foil (ortin foil ) which is not safe for use in mostmicrowave oven s.Other Uses
