"Wish" is the second promotional single from Nine Inch Nails' "Broken". One of NIN's most popular and acclaimed songs, "Wish" cemented Trent Reznor's image as a rage-fueled star to the publicFact|date=February 2008. "Wish" was named the Best Metal Performance in the 1993 Grammy Awards. Reznor later joked that his epitaph should read: "REZNOR: Died. Said 'fist fuck' and won a Grammy."Fact|date=January 2008

Remixes

"Wish" has been remixed twice on "Broken"'s companion disc, "Fixed", as "Wish (Remix)" and "Fist Fuck." Both remixes were performed by J. G. Thirlwell.

Music video

The video for "Wish" was directed by Peter Christopherson, who also directed "March Of The Pigs" and the Broken Movie.

The video features the band performing in a large cage surround by a mob that is trying to get into the cage and attack the band. The finale of the video shows the mob breaking into the cage and attacking the band. MTV felt that the ending scene was too violent and alternate footage was used for network airplay. The video can also be found on the Broken Movie.

A second video is a live video filmed by Simon Maxwell for Closure in 1995. The footage used is different from that used in the Closure performance.

The single

"Wish" was never produced as a commercial single to be sold to the public, most likely because its parent EP, "Broken", was itself not much longer than a single. However, various promotional discs were distributed for airplay.
