Tre McCarthyGenre Hardcore punk Country of origin United States Official Website deathwishinc.com Deathwish, Inc. is a independent record label founded by Jacob Bannon and Tre McCarthy. The label was originally used to release early albums by Bannon's own band Converge starting in late 1991. It wasn't until late 1999 that McCarthy and Bannon discussed turning Deathwish into a full-fledged label.[1] Deathwish's first release was Deeper the Wound, a split album between Converge and Japanese band Hellchild in 2001.
Deathwish Inc. started primarily as a hardcore punk/metallic hardcore record label, but has since branched out into other counterculture-oriented businesses such as sponsoring mixed martial arts fighters. Deathwish sponsors a number of fighters including: Dan "The Outlaw" Hardy, Dan "The Upgrade" Lauzon, Joe "J-Lau" Lauzon, Toby "Tigerheart" Grear and Patrick Vogel. In mid-2007 Deathwish merged with long-time friends Malfunction Records. Both labels still exist separately, but both are run by Deathwish.[2] The label also operates the imprint label Icarus Records which is for more experimental and ambient sounding bands.[3]
