Tuskahoma, Oklahoma

Tuskahoma is a small unincorporated community in Pushmataha County, Oklahoma, United States. The post office was established on February 27, 1884. Tuskahoma was the last capital of the Choctaw Nation. Tushka means "warrior" and Homma means "red" in the Choctaw language.

Choctaw Nation Labor Day Festival

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma holds its annual Labor Day festival in Tuskahoma on the grounds of the historic Capitol building. The well known festival is attended by tens of thousands of people each year from all parts of the country, featuring various events from country and gospel music concerts to softball games, and pow-wows, arts and crafts, basketball games, strength contests, a carnival, animal shows, horseshoe games, buffalo tours, volleyball games, a swimming pool, tent and RV grounds, a 5K run, playgrounds, a museum, and numerous other events.
