Glendale Unified School District

The Glendale Unified School District is a school district based in Glendale, California, United States.

The school district serves the city of Glendale, portions of the city of La Cañada and the unincorporated communities of Montrose and La Crescenta. It consists of 20 Elementary Schools, 4 Middle Schools, 5 High Schools and 2 Facilities for homeschoolers and special-needs students.

The District comprises 30,000 students, and as of 2002, is the third-largest in Los Angeles County and among the thirty-largest in the State of California. [http://www.gusd.net/Internal/pride.htm]

Governance

The District is governed by a Board of Education consisting of five trustees who are elected to four year terms. The Board of Education also appoints a Superintendent to oversee day-to-day operations of the district, as well as a non-voting student representative who serves during the school year.
