Ronald Welch (1909 - 1982) was the pseudonym of British writer Ronald Oliver Felton TD. He took the name from his wartime regiment. He was for many years Headmaster of
Okehampton Grammar School inDevon .Welch was teaching at
Bedford Modern School when theSecond World War broke out and was aLieutenant in its Officers' Training Corps contingent. In 1940 he was commissioned Lieutenant in theWelch Regiment . He reached the rank ofMajor and remained in theTerritorial Army after the war.Carey Family
