Initially it was located in the centre of Athens, in the place of
Stoa tou Bibliou , and was functioning as a boarding school only for female students. Its ultimate aim was to train young teachers and send them (before 1913) to Macedonia, which at that time belonged to Bulgaria, in order to help the survival of Greek language and culture not to be forgotten by Macedonian children. The school remained to be addressed only to girls until about
1985 .The school located in
Tirana was opened 8 years ago and has about 400 students.A new and bigger school is being built in Tirana which has got dormitories where students from other cities can stay.External links
