Earby is a small town within the Pendle district of Lancashire, England. It is convert|5|mi|km|1 north of Colne, convert|7|mi|km|1 from Skipton, and convert|11|mi|km|1 from Burnley.

Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, from 1909 to 1974, Earby formed an urban district. Since 1974 Earby has been in the West Craven area of Pendle and now has a Parish Council as part of the West Craven Area Committee on Pendle Borough Council. Other smaller nearby towns include Thornton in Craven and Sough, Lancashire.

Earby also had its own railway station, but it was closed in 1970. The station was a major interchange with the small branch off to Barnoldswick.

Local media

Earby is served by TV from both Leeds and Manchester; ITV (Yorkshire Television) and BBC North are both transmitted from the TV mast at East Marton, 3 miles north of Earby. [ [http://tx.mb21.co.uk/gallery/skipton.php Skipton/Craven Area TV Transmitter] ] BBC North West and ITV (Granada Television) are both received directly from the main Winter Hill transmitter. [ [http://tx.mb21.co.uk/gallery/winterhill/index.php Winter Hill Transmitter] ] Radio reception is restricted in the town. The BBC has a low-power relay that overlooks Earby and has the four main BBC national FM radio stations (Radio 1 to 4), but there is no local FM radio station in the area. The local press is published twice weekly; the "Barnoldswick and Earby Times" is published on Fridays and the "Pendle Express" is published on Tuesdays. Some of the Yorkshire press is circulated in the area - due to the geographical anomaly. The "Craven Herald & Pioneer" and "Yorkshire Post" newspapers are prominent.
