San Gorgonio Wilderness is the home of some great hiking, backpacking and several 10,000+ feet peaks, including the highest peak in Southern California — Mount San Gorgonio (convert|11499|ft|abbr=on|disp=/). The United States Congress designated the San Gorgonio Wilderness in 1964 and it now has a total of convert|94664|acre|km2|0. It is located in the San Bernardino mountains in Southern California and managed by San Bernardino National Forest
