n companies, products and services to create jobs and foster economic growth in South Africa. It is supported by organized labour, organized business, government and community organizations. PSA membership is and open to companies and organisations of all sizes, based on the following criteria (evaluated annually by a PSA membership panel):

* Local content - at least 50% of the cost of production must be incurred in South Africa and there must be substantial transformation of any imported materials;

* Quality - the product or service must be of a proven high quality;

* Fair labour practice – the company must adhere to fair labour practice and comply with labour legislation

* Environmental standards – the company must practise sound environmental standards and the production process must be environmentally friendly.

At the heart of the campaign is the Proudly South African logo. Companies who meet these standards can use the logo to identify themselves, and their products and services. A number of different versions of the logo may be used depending on the requirements of the user.

Cost of membership is normally 0,1% of sales of those products bearing the PSA logo, but is negotiable in special circumstances. Non-commercial organisations pay a nominal fee.

Besides being entitled to use the logo, members receive a variety of other support from PSA including assistance and support with tender submissions; exposure on the PSA website; use of the PSA website; free listing in the PSA Buyers Guide; access to PSA promotional merchandise at cost; a free quarterly newsletter and regular communication about campaign new and promotional opportunities; participation at reduced or no cost in print, radio and TV promotions; access to tender leads or opportunities; free attendance at business workshops and member networking events and participation in the Homegrown Awards and Proudly South African Day.
