The Saginaw River is a 22-mile-long (35 km)
river in theU.S. state ofMichigan . It is formed by the confluence of the Tittabawassee and Shiawassee rivers southeast of Saginaw. It flows northward into theSaginaw Bay ofLake Huron just northeast of Bay City.The river is an important shipping route for

The Saginaw River has been polluted with waste discharged into the
Tittabawassee River byDow Chemical Company . The pollution by Dow has in large part caused widespread contamination ofdioxins in and around the areas surrounding the Saginaw river watershed.
