Superintendent & Principals

The current superintendent of Shaler Area School District is Dr. Donald Lee. The High School's Principal is Mr. William Suit, and the Assistant Principals are Mrs. JoAnne Freed, Mr. Mike Brooks,and Ms. Shannon Howard. The New Mt. Royal Middle School's Acting Principal is Mr. Dave McQuade, and the Assistant Principal is Mr. Michael Arbogast. The new Shaler Area Elementary School's Principal is Cynthia L. Foht and the Assistant Principals are Mr. Jeffrey Rojik and Mrs. Jodi Brooks. Burchfield Primary School's Princpal is Mr. William Tomicek. Jeffery Primary School's Princpal is Mrs. Kara Eckert. Marzolf Primary School's Princpal is Mr. Martin Martynuska. Reserve Primary School's Princpal is Mr. Rick Pelkofer. Rogers Primary School's Princpal is Mrs. Leah McCord.

Sports

Shaler's Teams are all nicknamed "The Titans."

Shaler athletics compete in the WPIAL/PIAA AAAA/AAA divisions depending on sport.

Shaler has no defined rival, however games against neighbors North Hills and North Allegheny are fierce.

Shaler's 1980 Baseball team is considered to be one of the best baseball teams in the history of the WPIAL.

Media Attention

Visitors

In 2002, author Ben Mikaelsen visited Shaler Area Middle School. The 5th grade class presented him with a collage shaped like a whale.

Notes:
*The pit band for "Grease" was nominated for Best Student Orchestra in the Gene Kelly Awards, but did not win.
*The Intermediate School did not perform a show in 2008.

Choirs

The Shaler Area Choirs at the high school and intermediate school levels have been competing for twenty-plus years in the Festivals of Music competitions under the direction of Mrs. Karen Frederick. The following choirs are offered at the various schools:
