Sumallo River

The Sumallo River is located in southern British Columbia, in the Cascade Mountains to the east of Hope. It begins somewhere near the village of Sunshine Valley and proceeds through Manning Park, eventually meeting the Skagit River.

The name comes from the word "Semall-á-ow" given to Alexander Caulfield Anderson by his Nlaka'pamux on an 1846 through the Cascade Range. This word is not from the Halq'eméylem language from local Stóːlō people, so it may be a Nlaka'pamuctsin word.
