- Tracy G
Tracy G (born Tracy Grijalva on
January 3 ,1959 in Whittier,California ) is an American heavy metalguitarist best known for his time withDio from 1993 to 1999.His first band was with his father. It was called the Grijalva Brothers. It started out when he was seven and wanted to play in Little League Baseball. Childhood illness struck and he couldn't play in the season. He then wanted to play drums, but decided that guitar would do better because then he could play in his father's band, the Grijalva Brothers.
He had a few guitar instructors when he was little and he was told by one of them that he would have a hard time playing because his fingers were to small. He would practice until his fingers hurt.
Tracy G played in his father's band but eventually grew out of it.
He would play in a variety of bands including with future member of Great White Jack Russell. He also put together the bands Love Hate and Swift Kick. He was at almost any club playing.
Tracy then joined DIO. He would rock this band for six years, recording Strange Highways, Angry Machines, and Inferno: Last In Live. He would leave when commercial pressures forced Dio to replace with Craig Goldy. The knock on Tracy was that he would never play the solo's correctly from the Iommi and Campbell songs live. This was one of the main reasons that Dio decided to bring back Goldy, who had played with him on the "Dream Evil" album.
Currently, Tracy G is in the band Goaded. They have released two albums and Tracy has released numerous of his own's band's albums as well.
G recorded three albums with Dio:
Strange Highways ,Angry Machines andInferno - Last in Live . He left the band in 1999 when he was asked to playrhythm guitar whileCraig Goldy took lead.External links
