Cormorant Island is located at 64°48′S 63°58′W / 64.8°S 63.967°W. Cormorant Island was shown on an Argentine government chart of 1954, but not named. So named by the United Kingdom Antarctic Place-names Committee (UK-APC) in 1958 because of the large number of cormorants on the island.
