Philip Treacy, OBE (born
26 May 1967 ) is one of the world's foremosthat designers or milliners.Born in
Ahascragh ,County Galway ,Ireland where he lived with his seven brothers and sister. He is now based inLondon and has designed hats forAlexander McQueen 's white 'Haute Couture' collection atGivenchy inParis , and forKarl Lagerfeld atChanel . He has been awarded the title of British Accessory Designer of the Year at theBritish Fashion Awards on five occasions.In 2005 he was commissioned to design hats for the wedding of the Prince of Wales to the Duchess of Cornwall.
2005 also saw the culmination of his work as Design Director for The G Hotel. A five star hotel in Galway City it is the flagship of the Monogram Hotel Group a subsidiary of Irish developer Edward Holdings.
16 February 2006 saw the launch of the collaborative collection, Philip Treacy for
Umbro at The Royal Horticultural Hall during London Fashion Week. The collection promises to surprise and excite fashion and sports industries in an unusual yet successful collaboration.The launch featured modelling fromJasmine Guinness ,Erin O’Connor ,Alek Wek ,Grace Jones and appearances from Michael Owen and Tara Palmer Tompkinson.Also in 2006, he was declared one of the 100 most influential gay and lesbian people in Britainby the Independent.
