The present bishop of Newcastle in the Anglican Church of Australia is the Right Reverend Dr Brian Farran, who was enthroned on Friday, 24 June 2005 (the feast of the nativity of St John the Baptist) at Christ Church Cathedral, Newcastle, New South Wales.
