Udbina is a village in the
Lika region ofCroatia . It is an administratively part of in theLika-Senj county .The village is located in the large
karst field calledKrbava . The field has a small airport, the only one in Lika.The Krbava field and Udbina itself was the location of a medieval bishopric and the
Battle of Krbava field ofSeptember 9 ,1493 , where theCroats under banEmerik Derenčin (Hungarian: "Imre Derencsényi") and theFrankopan s suffered one of the major defeats at the hands of theOttoman Empire . She was managed byOttomans between 1527-1699 and included at Sanjak of Lika in Province of Bosnia.Udbina was under control of the Serb forces during the
Croatian War of Independence (1991-1995). Before the war town was almost entirely populated by ethnic SerbsFact|date=August 2008.The
Catholic Church is building the Church of Croatian Martyrs in Udbina, to commemorate the town's role in the distant and recent history of the nation.Population/Demographics
