Libbi Gorr (born Lisbeth Joanne Gorr,
March 24 1965 inMelbourne ,Australia ) is anAustralia ncomedian , writer, voice artist and journalist. She is also known for the character she created, "Elle McFeast ".Gorr was educated at the Methodist Ladies' College in
Melbourne . When Gorr was an arts/law student at theUniversity of Melbourne , she began working in comedy. After graduating she became anarticled clerk with the Melbourne law firm Phillips Fox. She also performed with the all-woman cabaret group "The Hot Bagels".Gorr got her first regular media gig as the voice of Sportsgirl fashion chain, when she was asked to 'sound' like a photo of super model Elle MacPherson.
She has performed in a number of award winning television shows, including Andrew Denton's 'Live and Sweaty'. She was personally chosen by Denton to host Live and Sweaty after his retirement from the show. McFeast also created internationally acclaimed TV specials, Breasts, Sex Guys and Videotape, Portrait of a Power Pussy - and the Tonight Show "
Elle McFeast Live ". Gorr made the transition to appear as herself on camera with the Marie Clare What Women Want Forums. Gorr also hosted and helped create the televised IF awards for Film in Australia. In 2001 a portrait of her called "Excelle - Libbi Gorr" by painter Margarita Georgiadis was entered in theArchibald Prize .In 2006 Gorr, who has always had a wealth of comedy material to draw from dealing with her weight issues, took over from
Kirstie Alley as the spokeswoman for dieting companyJenny Craig inAustralia andNew Zealand .Gorr returned to television in 2007 to host the short-lived Channel Nine show, "The Catch Up". The program, a revised version of the American program
The View ran for only four months before being cancelled due to poor ratings. However, Gorr received good reviews.
