Peter Paphides (born Panayiotis Paphides) is a British
journalist .He is the chief rock
critic ofThe Times and presents The Times' weekly musicpodcast for Sounds Music supplement.Paphides was born in
Birmingham to a Greek Cypriot father, Chris, and a Greek mother, Victoria. He has an elder brother, Aki. His father ran the 'Great Western' fish bar inAcocks Green , and the family lived upstairs. In 1979, the family moved to the suburb ofOlton , where his father ran the 'King Fisher' (now 'George's Fish Bar').He went on to read
philosophy at theUniversity of Wales, Lampeter .Paphides later wrote for
Melody Maker andTime Out . Today, he is based inLondon . He married fellow Timescolumnist Caitlin Moran in December 1999. They two daughters, Dora, (born 2001) and Eavie (born 2003).References
