Jack Shadbolt

Jack Leonard Shadbolt (February 4 1909 – November 22, 1998) was a Canadian painter.

Born in Shoeburyness, England, he came to Canada with his parents in 1912, and was raised in Victoria, British Columbia. From 1928 to 1937, he taught in high schools in Duncan, British Columbia and Vancouver, British Columbia. He studied with Frederick Varley at the Vancouver School of Art. From 1938 to 1966, he taught at the Vancouver School of Art and was the head of painting and drawing section until 1966.

During World War II, he was an official War artist in the Canadian Army.

In 1972, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada. In 1990, he was awarded the Order of British Columbia.

He was married to Doris Shadbolt.
