Pope John Paul II
The newest addition to the schools campus,Pope John Paul II is home to the Lee and Jim Vann Library as well as the Help Desk and Rigistras office for the school. I also houses a SubWay for quick meals while studying during a busy day of class.
The Mimi and Ian Rolland Art and Visual Communication Center
In the summer of 1998, purchased the old Standard Oil property and warehouse. This property had not been in use for years, so it became very polluted with oil residue. In the spring of 1999, the University of Saint Francis received a grant from the City of Fort Wayne and the State of Indiana. The grant was to be used to clean the ground, water, and surrounding area. In 2002, the site was pronounced clean and uncontaminated. The art center is currently 38,000 square feet, but soon to be expanded to 41,000 square feet once more clean up actions are finished. Some materials used throughout the building are sandblasted brick, steel, aluminum, copper, and glass.
History
The school was founded in
Lafayette, Indiana in1890 . The campus moved to its current Fort Wayne campus in 1944, to the estate of the former industrialist John H. Bass. The school has remained in Fort Wayne since, and has gradually expanded, adding a graduate school in 1960.Athletics
The university's sports teams are known as the Saint Francis Cougars. It fields teams for the following sports: baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, and volleyball. Teams compete in the NAIA's
Mid-Central College Conference and theMid-States Football Association .Football
The sport that I have chosen is football located in the Athletic department. Football is a very important sport at the University of Saint Francis. The website should have more pictures of the football players, talk about our two-a-day practices and build a new athletic facility. The pictures should consist of the players doing drills, the coaches showing the player the technique and how the coverage or formation is suppose to look and the players in action during the football game. During the two-a-day practices the website should just talk about how early we have to wake up and the little bit of time we have to rest during the two-a-day practice. The website should also mention trying to get a new Athletic facility for the university. The weight room that we have now is big but not big enough. This facility should be for the football so that we wouldn’t have to take those long walks back and forth across campus.
Men's Basketball
The Saint Francis Basketball team is in a stage of building a winning tradition. Although the Cougars struggled a little bit last season with an overall record of 15-17. Nevertheless, this team was ranked 27th in NAIA Division II for steals in a game with 9 steals. No matter what the score was this team never lost site of hope which helped them to achieve this ranking. Coach Jeff Rekeweg is determined to build this Cougar Basketball team into a championship contender.
chool of Health Sciences
Nursing
One of the main schools of attraction is The School of Nursing. A subdivision of the School of Health Sciences, it is one of the most popular schools at the University of Saint Francis. Deeply rooted with Franciscan values the vision of the school is; the Department of Nursing will become a leader in nursing education, recognized nationally for academic excellence, distinguished faculty and exceptional graduates who lead the profession with vision, compassion and wisdom. The Department of Nursing at the University of Saint Francis prepares students for professional nursing practice, leadership, and service within an increasingly advanced technological community. The Graduate Program prepares nurses to utilize advanced knowledge of therapeutic nursing interventions, nursing and interdisciplinary theories, and research to improve health systems as a whole. The well-repsected nursing program does come with its competition, the enrollment in 2008 reached 674 people. Only 48 were accepted into the school for the Bachelorette Degree. By December only 20 were left.
Other Degree Programs in SOHS
Since 2003 the Physical Therapist Assistant program at the University of Saint Francis has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The PTA program enrolls 22 students each year, and graduates receive an Associate of Science degree. With this specific degree PTAs work under licensed physical therapists and carry out rehabilitation plans designed by the PT. PTAs have the option of working in hospitals, schools, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and outpatient facilities. The program emphasizes book knowledge as well as hands on experience. The degree can be completed in two years but many students opt to spread their class load over a three year time period.
The University of Saint Francis also offers an Associate of Science in Radiological Technology which is one of the fastest growing professions in the United States. The program has continually been accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Faculty in the Radiological Technology program are all certified radiological technologists and have degrees beyond that along with a combined 25 years of clinical experience. This profession is expected to grow faster than average through the year 2014 as baby boomers approach retirement age. In the past thirteen years all of the universities graduates have passed the national certification exam given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). In the past five years almost all of the program graduates have been employed three months after graduation.

Music Technology in the School of Creative Arts
University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne Indian introduced a new Music Technology program in the fall of 2007. Music Technology is a term that refers to all forms of technology involved with the musical arts, particularly the use of electronic devices and computer software to facilitate playback, recording, composition, storage, and performance. At Saint Francis students have the option of concentrating in one of three areas: Music Technology Sales/Marketing/Management, Recording/Engineering/Production, and Audio for the Creative Arts. Each student in this program will have the opportunity to work hands on in a state of the art recording studio, with all the amenities needed to excel in this line of work.
This is one of the newest and most innovative majors provided at the University of Saint Francis. Students will cover the development of music technology as it relates to audio recording, film, and multimedia. This course is designed to allow students a chance to critically analyze many others’ perspectives on the music industry and also develop their own independent expertise. There are three main areas of concentration provided in this major: sales and marketing, recording and mixing, and post-audio production. Partnering with Sweetwater Sound, one of the nation’s largest music producers, our faculty is dedicated to providing students with the most practical hands-on experience. This four year degree will ensure our students with a strong understanding for music and provide a solid base for joining the music industry.
