Alternative cover The cover of the clean version.Professional ratings Review scores Source Rating Allmusic [1] Desensitized is the second studio album by American alternative metal band Drowning Pool. It was their first album after the death of vocalist Dave Williams as well as the first and only album to feature Jason 'Gong' Jones as vocalist. The album debuted at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The album marked a slight yet recognizable change in the band's image, as notable by its cover design, as well their musical style due to Jones' singing. Rather than a dark, grimacing, anti-social demeanor, Drowning Pool shifted toward a masculine rock star vanity and sex appeal. The Desensitized album cover features porn star Jesse Jane.
Jason soon left the band because of personal and musical differences. Also "Step Up" is the only song from the album that is still played in live shows.
This album showed a departure from the band's earlier nu metal style, shifting into a more post-grunge and hard rock sound.
