Sinfoni Melayu

Sinfoni Melayu

"Sinfoni Melayu" is a symphony composed in 1956 by Anthony Burgess. [http://www.anthonyburgess.org/html/music.htm] It draws on many of the musical styles he encountered while he was living and working in Malaya. Burgess described it as an attempt to "combine the musical elements of the country into a synthetic language which called on native drums and xylophones". [quoted in cite book
