KDTV (channel 14) is a Univision-owned and operated station in San Francisco. It began operation in 1975 on channel 60 as the Bay Area's first exclusively Spanish-language TV station. Enrique Gratas, host of Univision's "Última hora," anchored KDTV's first newscasts.

History

On March 5, 1979 KDTV traded facilities with KCSM, San Mateo, obtaining their lower channel number. It became owned and operated by Univision in 1992. Univision 14 is also rebroadcast on KDTV-CA channel 28, in Santa Rosa.

In November 2007, the Bay Area's highest ratings among all viewers aged 25 to 54 for a 6 p.m. local news broadcast went to KDTV. This was the Bay Area's first occurrence in which a Spanish-language news program earned higher ratings than its English-language counterparts. [cite news
