Jez Nelson

Jez Nelson is a jazz broadcaster and television producer. After working on several pirate jazz radio stations including K Jazz, he joined the newly licenced Jazz FM in the late 80s. He has interviewed many jazz celebrities including Herbie Hancock, Nina Simone, Wayne Shorter and Sun Ra.

Jez left Jazz FM in 1991, joined Kiss 100, and started his own company, Somethin' Else Sound Directions Ltd. where he now holds the title Creative Director. The business has become the largest independent radio production company in the UK and is a leading cross-platform content producer. He has also presented many BBC television and radio programmes, including "Tomorrow's World", Formula Five and BBC Radio 3's "Jazz on 3".

In 2001, he was listed in the Broadcast magazine rich list as the joint 51st along with co-director Sonita Alleyne, both valued at £10.5 million.
