Wrestling

Many outstanding wrestlers have passed through the halls of Hasbrouck Heights High School. With the creation of a recreation level program, established in the 1970's by then-director, Andy "The King" Feintuch, experience began to filter into the high school program. In 1976, heavyweight Bill Spindler became the school's first ever NJSIAA state champion, pinning each of his opponents on his way to the gold medal.

Team success came with the hiring of head coach, Tom Basile, who would guide the 1989 team to league and county titles. The Aviator's would capture their first ever North Jersey Group I state sectional championship after a one-sided victory over defending champion Waldwick High School. The team was back-to-back champions in 1990. For their accomplishments, the 1989 team would be elected to the Hasbrouck Heights Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.

In the mid-1990s, HH alum Mike Scuilla would take over the reins from Basile and continue the team's winning ways. The pinnacle individual performance came in 2001 when Morgan Horner won the 189 lb. weight class at the NJSIAA championships defeating the defending champion. This accomplishment would earn Horner the award for the championship's Most Outstanding Wrestler.

The wrestling team won the North II, Group I state sectional title in 2006 with a 43-28 win against New Providence High School. [Cooper, Darren.
