Italian hardcore

Italian hardcore

There was a dynamic Italian hardcore punk scene in the 1980s .

80's Hardcore Bands

Italian hardcore was a strong influence, and still it does for many hardcore bands in the world.Even if important scenes took place in the U.S.A. or in U.K., in the 80's Italy punks grew up in a social and political situation that was really hard, once the era of political terrorism (both left and right wing) ended up and the moment was ready for mass-firing in Italian factories.

Many punks of that years came directly from the Italian proletariat and sub-proletariat, so the lyrics of the bands were focused on the social situation and on the distance between punk movement and the growing Italian-yuppie philosophy.

Inspired by bands such as Crass and Discharge, many lyrics were against the war and the N.A.T.O.

Current Day Italian Hardcore Bands by region

A lot of bands in this list held to the independent scene, that has a strong political culture, thus not all bands have political lyrics. The so-called scene gravitates among italian squats (El Paso in Turin, Villa Occupata and Leoncavallo in Milan, Atlantide in Bologna and Bencivenga in Rome, just to cite some of them) that have a rich schedule of hardcore shows throughout the year.
