Udi people , is a member of the Northeast Caucasian language family. It is believed this was the main language ofCaucasian Albania , which stretched from southDagestan to current day Azerbaijan.The language is spoken by about 5,000 people in the
Azerbaijan i village of Nij in theQabala rayon, theOguz rayon, as well as parts of theNorth Caucasus inRussia . It is also spoken by ethnic Udis living in the villages of Debedavan, Bagratashen, Ptghavan, and Haghtanak in theTavush province ofArmenia and in the village of Zinobiani (Oktomberi) in theKvareli district of theKakheti province in Georgia.Udi is related to Lezgian and Tabasaran. Together with Lak, Dargin and others, they form the group of Lezgic languages.
